How to remove Entries RSS, Comments RSS, and WordPress.org from META sidebar

Written by Alex Sokolov. Posted in My blog

Today I decide to change my META login form: remove Entries RSS, Comments RSS, and WordPress.org on sidebar.

Before it looks:

After a brief search I found a solution. For WordPress version 2.8 and later (I have 3.5) you need to change a file default-widgets.php located in folder wp-includes.

Open the default-widgets.php file and delete the following lines starting at 316:
<li><a href="<?php bloginfo('rss2_url'); ?>" title="<?php echo esc_attr(__('Syndicate this site using RSS 2.0')); ?>"><?php _e('Entries <abbr title="Really Simple Syndication">RSS</abbr>'); ?></a></li>
<li><a href="<?php bloginfo('comments_rss2_url'); ?>" title="<?php echo esc_attr(__('The latest comments to all posts in RSS')); ?>"><?php _e('Comments <abbr title="Really Simple Syndication">RSS</abbr>'); ?></a></li>
<li><a href="<?php esc_attr_e( 'http://wordpress.org/' ); ?>" title="<?php echo esc_attr(__('Powered by WordPress, state-of-the-art semantic personal publishing platform.')); ?>"><?php	_e( 'WordPress.org' );	?></a></li>
